Energy Rating Information
As part of the government’s commitment to improving energy efficiency in this country, all windows and doors have to meet strict performance criteria for how well they insulate your home. Windows are awarded a Window Energy Rating (WER) by the British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC).
Window Energy Ratings use a consumer friendly traffic light system, A – E ratings guide similar to that used on white goods (such as fridges, freezers, washing machines etc…).This ratings label can be used by you to make more informed choices about energy efficiency of the windows you are looking to purchase.

With carbon emissions high on the global agenda and the current high cost of fuel, we are all looking for ways to make our homes more energy efficient.
The British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC) operate the UK national system for rating the energy efficiency of windows and is recognised within Building Regulations as a method to show compliance for your replacement window installation.
Each window rated by the BFRC has a unique label; this label will display the following information:
- The rating level – A, B, C etc…
- The energy rating e.g. -3kWh/ (m2.K) in this example the product will lose 3 kilowatt hours per square meter per year.
- The U value e.g. 1.4W/(m2.K)
- The effective heat lose due to air penetration as L e.g. 0.01W/(M2.K)
- The solar heat gain e.g. g=0.43
Simply put this will determine how well a product will perform the functions of:
- Helping you contain and conserve heat within your building in the winter
- Keeping the wind out
- Resist condensation
- Contribute to improved sound insulation
So what are the benefits for using energy efficient windows?
They help contain and conserve heat within the home keeping out the wind and rainEnergy efficient glazing could save you around £130 per year on your energy billsA contribution to the environment, by using less fuel you’ll generate less carbon dioxide (CO2) that leads to global warming.
As well as keeping the heat within your property they also insulate your home better against unwanted outside noise.
Our Energy efficient windows use warm edge spacer bars and low emissivity glasses which can help to reduce condensation by up to 70%
